Canada’s Reputation Abroad

“I have a great deal of respect for every Country’s sovereign right to decide during Covid who come into the country and on what terms.” Chrystia Freeland. Deputy Prime Minister.

If you take a look at the reputation of Canada today, you’ll find that RESPECT is not one of them. Just look at Chrystia Freeland’s quote about this and you’ll notice the weakness in her opinion of another Country’s Sovereignty. They may have Sovereignty but you can still negotiate. Here’s a headline I read earlier this week. “Canadians excluded from U.K. travel exemptions.” And I think this is because of this Government’s priorities, ideas, weakness, Defense, that people and Countries like China just walk all over us like we’re a bug ready to be squashed. It wasn’t always like this. There was a time when we were under British Rule.

Did you know that we were required to go to War with Britain?

Yes! That was when we were called “Dominion of Canada” I remember seeing it on our calendars every year. And if it ever came to war, we had to present ourselves ready to do battle alongside our British Allies which is why we were in WW2 before the United States. It also meant that the Government had to keep a Defense Budget ready just in case. But that all changed when Queen Elizabeth signed the Canadian Constitution Act into law which essentially gave Canada it’s freedom to make laws, change them, do whatever it wants without British rule. We were a sovereign Country. It started with liberals, Pierre Elliott Trudeau and his own idea of what he thought Canada should be. Which was, Defense spending should be cut, Missions that involve troops should not be acted upon. The only thing we have to think of is NATO missions, and we can pick and choose those things. But Defense spending should be cut, and that’s the way it’s essentially been to today under Justin Trudeau, who is more concerned about Climate Change than Defense Spending. Defense is still not a priority. More Soldiers and Equipment is not invested in. And so you ask: What does this have to do with reputation? I’ll explain.

There are other countries like United States, Andorra, Countries from the European Union (27 Countries), that are allowed to enter United Kingdom without any travel exemptions. Not Canada. This is the result of the work we’ve done. If over 70% of Canadians are vaccinated and over half are fully vaccinated (myself included), than we should be included in with these travel exemptions. Nobody should have to be quarantined after being fully vaccinated. And the Opposition is asking questions about this in Parliament. We should be paying attention. The Media should be listening.

Is this the fault of the UK Government?

No. This is the fault of our Government. This is our reputation of not being taken serious and it’s been going downhill under these liberals since 1982. There are three flights from Toronto (YYZ-LHR) to London Heathrow Airport each day. That is hundreds of people who travel to the UK every week. They all have to quarantine for two weeks, before going about their business, visiting family, or doing sightseeing. They are fully vaccinated. If this government cares, they should be working with their British Counterparts to try and negotiate with the British Government to be included in with these Travel Exemptions. Because, this is what I believe, if this was Stephen Harper or a Conservative Government, Canada’s Reputation abroad would be in much better shape than it currently is. Climate Change would not be taken so serious like PMJT thinks it should. Instead, NATO missions would be acted upon, the requirement for 2% of GDP for Defense spending would also be acted upon. And this is our reputation. This is how we can get China’s attention. And gain a reputation again.
