There was a time when making $20 bucks an hour was like, WOW! I’d be set for life. Now, the NDP wants to make it minimum wage. Can you imagine working at Walmart, Burger King or McDonald’s making that? How about Timmies? That’s what Andrea Horwath wants. And I think, she’s being desperate. She’s the Leader of the Opposition. She’s suppose to be a Government in waiting. Premier. The people in the past election got so incredibly fed up with the liberals that they punished them so badly with like eight seats or something, in the legislature. That’s punishment. The Conservatives came to power (which I like my MPP Natalia Kusendova because she’s so smart). Andrea Horwath became the Leader of the Opposition. They are suppose to be a government in waiting. But instead, The Tories will likely remain in power, and the liberals will likely gain more seats. Maybe more than the NDP. Which will make them the Leader.
She’s being desperate.
The NDP in any level of Government have never had a successful mandate. Bob Rae in the 1990’s did very badly. They are not a government in waiting. Their policies are quite pathetic. The liberals are left of centre, NDP are extreme left which makes them ridiculous. They win when liberals do bad. They are likely on their way down after this. A desperate move to stay where they are, which is not a winning strategy. Before the election in 2018, Kathleen Wynne tried pretty much tried the same thing by moving the Minimum wage to fourteen an hour. With the promise of another dollar increase by January 1, 2019. Of course, that’s if they stay in power. They didn’t. And their idea of bribing people with more money didn’t work. Even among voters in their Twenty’s. The wage increase was cancelled, by Doug Ford and the new PC Government.
It didn’t work then, why should it work now?
She’s trying, Andrea Horwath that is. But, she should try to remember what this does to a small business like a Tim Hortons franchise. The price of buying a coffee will go up. Maybe to $2.50/cup. So will any food you buy. She may say well, it costs more, but you’re also making more. But, there’s nothing to stop me from making my coffee at home before I go to work. So, I still save. It’s that Tim Hortons that suffers. But still has to pay it’s employees that Minimum wage. This also will force those, like myself who will demand more money from my Employer, for the job that I’m doing. Also, a small business will likely not hire any new staff. Which will force current employees to work twice as hard for more wages. That’s not good in my line of work. Overall,
This is not a good move.
The reason is that higher wages mean fewer jobs. She should personally should be voted out, along with the rest of her colleagues. She and her caucus have had all this time to prove to people in Ontario that they are a Government in waiting. Establishing policy. Taking a side during the pandemic. She has said that she would have kept schools open and made Vaccinations Mandatory for Teachers and Healthcare workers. The problem there is that there would have been fewer Teachers and Healthcare workers to handle the pandemic. More students would have been sick. The best thing to do was to close schools so nobody gets sick. She’s not thinking of this, and she should.
She has to think and do whatever it takes to make people SAFE.
A liberal or Conservative Govt. wouldn’t allow this. And, there’s a reason why she’s not the Premier of Ontario. And a reason why she won’t. They’re on their way down. Down to being the third party in the legislature. Again. Government in waiting? I don’t think so.
