I’ll Gladly pay you on Tuesday

Ontario liberal leader Steven Del Duca is promising to reduce public Transit fares to $1. And the Toronto Star Editorial Board thinks This is a great idea! How’s that for Broken Promises. Give the people what they want to hear and then after we’re elected, we’ll just tell them, forget it. We only said that just to get elected.

What are you kidding?

In fact, I would believe it. This one has broken promise written all over it. So don’t believe it. Not the politician who said it or the Newspaper who published it. Why you ask? because in my lifetime I’ve not seen the price of transit go down, It only goes up, up, up. Liberals do not deprive themselves (once they form government) of any money or revenue that they have to pay for. Do you remember Dalton McGuinty who in 2003 said, “I won’t raise your taxes, but I won’t lower them either.” That was his number 1 promise during that election. It’s what reminisced more than anything when it came promises. He won. And of course, he broke that promise. In his first budget. But here’s where it gets awful. The Toronto Star thinks this is a great idea, and I think this is a way of saying they’re in on it too. Of course when it comes time to vote they’re going to endorse these liberals. What else is new. But, what if they win and are elected? That promise is going to be broken, we’ll never see a $1 Transit fare and The Star will just shove this into the corner where nobody can see, hear, or read about it. They’re liars just like these liberals. My advice is to don’t read their newspaper, don’t buy it or read it online. You know, they were critical of Premier Doug Ford and his “Buck a Beer” program. I think that’s better because that was actually a Promise Kept by Doug Ford and his Conservative Govt. Not a broken one. If you dare want to read it, here’s the Star Editorial.
