Hi. I was personally upset when I was told by my Family Doctor just two weeks ago that I my blood/sugar level was extremely high. The blood test was taken way back in January. But the result was not told to me until May 15th this year. During this time, well, I ate a whole bunch of sweets and stuff which could have made me sick and a diabetic for life! I didn’t know and so I kept on eating and eating, mostly when I was working, on the overnight shift. Well, when I finally found out, I stopped immediately. Now I seem to be doing better. I’m losing weight and feeling better. Drinking lots of water. I’ve also got an appointment to see the Doctor in charge of Nutrition, who will put me onto a diet. But again, this is too much into the future because the appointment was made the same time he gave me the test result, but could not be done until June 13th. One Month.
I think this is wrong and we should have the right to have the results to any test we’ve been given. This could endanger someone’s life. If you’re not sure, the Blood Test was taken in the first week of January. The result didn’t come until May.
That’s over four months!
It was ordered by a Doctor in the ER and was told to you by your Family Doctor. Let’s be blunt about what we really think about our Healthcare System. It sucks! And it needs to change and get better Service than what we’ve been getting since the 1990’s. People are dying because we’re waiting so long in the ER. And I almost ended up a Diabetic. I could actually file a lawsuit against the Government and the Healthcare Industry for lack of Service. How’s this:
“The health-care system they defend is among the worst performing in the civilized world. Family Doctors are rare, and wait times are nightmarish. If it continues to deteriorate, people won’t want to keep it in 20 years.” It is awful. And I want you to remember something, these cuts to healthcare have been done by past LIBERAL Gov’t. Like Paul Martin in the 1995 budget. Him and Jean Chretien. Also Dalton McGuinty and the Health Tax they imposed in the 2004 Budget. It’s liberals that have done the most damage to health-care. Not Conservatives. But, maybe we should. Healthcare services can be provided by businesses and Companies and Employers. People we work for. Also remember once I waited from 12 midnight to 10:30 in the morning for a Doctor to see me. The procedure took less than 30 minutes to diagnose.
